WAREHAM — A teenager from Brockton died Monday night as a result of a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 495.

The victim has been identified by authorities as 19-year-old Ajani Mitchell of Brockton.

365备用网址APPTroopers assigned to the Bourne state police barracks responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Route 495 north, in the area of mile marker .2, in Wareham at about 10 p.m.

First responders found a 2020 Nissan Rogue had rolled over and the driver, later identified as Mitchell, was still trapped inside the SUV.

"Preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was traveling on Route 495 northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the roadway to the left side and rolled over into the woods," Mass. State Police said in a written statement Tuesday morning.

365备用网址APPMitchell was taken by ambulance to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, where officials say he died as a result of his injuries.

Police say no other vehicles were involved in the crash and Mitchell was alone in the SUV.

The crash remains under investigation by Troop D, along with the Mass. State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section. The Wareham police and fire departments and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
